Breastfeeding Help
Mothers and babies today often need help to get breastfeeding off to a good start, but it can be hard to find the support and the time that you need. A private consultation with a certified lactation consultant gives you that time, to explore your birth and the roots of any difficulties you are experiencing, and to develop strategies together which will help you and your baby. Red flags suggesting that you and your baby need urgent assistance include persistent pain and soreness or your baby not gaining weight well. In more complex cases I can also provide research-based information for your health professional team, and I can perform assessments and referrals for tongue tie. Antenatal appointments are also available, to prepare for those early days and for second-time mothers who want help to make breastfeeding work this time around. Semi-private sessions for small groups are available by arrangement.
Helen Gray is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with 10 years of experience helping mothers and babies as a breastfeeding counsellor. Initial appointments are usually one and a half hours; followups are one hour. Contact us to book an appointment.
Therapies
We all know that good nutrition is essential for the development and growth of a healthy foetus and there is ever-growing evidence that exercise such as yoga can be highly beneficial both during and after pregnancy.
There are also a number of therapies that can assist you whether you need help conceiving (try medical herbalism, acupuncture, reflexology, NLP, hypnotherapy or nutrition therapy), you have a pregnancy-related injury (perhaps requiring physiotherapy), you want a natural way to induce labour (try acupuncture for example) or you would like some drug-free relief or support during labour (aromatherapy, reflexology or homeopathy). Once your baby is born, you may need some help to recover - for example, if you have sustained back or joint pain. As always, if you are unsure about the best course of treatment, please contact us so we can help.
