Congratulations on the arrival of your baby, we hope you are both safe and well. After giving birth, in all its various potential forms, your body will feel unlike you have ever experienced before. For all that took place during labour there is a lovely phrase that we think is useful in this time, you can't change what happened, but you can change how you feel about it. Looking after yourself, while you pour your energy into looking after your baby is important and it is vital, to you both, that you remember to answer your needs too.

We offer a wide range of classes and sessions for this time, that are suitable for you and your baby.

Gentle exercise activity can be recommenced six weeks after a vaginal birth, and twelve weeks after C-section. Don't feel you must be in rush, your body needs to heal before it strengthens and with all the new activity you are doing looking after the baby you will have plenty of opportunity to 'work muscles'. Do feel that you are welcome at any time for advice.

Women's Health Physiotherapy

We offer specialist physiotherapy services in women's health and in all things related to pregnancy and birth. In addition our Women's health specialist phyaio, Lisa Few is a certified Pilates teacher and can provide you with 1:1 instruction in Pilates for post natal care. Lisa is covered by all the major insurance companies and sessions with her are held privately. Our recommendation is that if you are experiencing discomfort, that feels unusually painful and allows for the fact that you have a growing baby inside you, seeing a specialist sooner rather than later can help to resolve the issue and free you up to feel more comfortable and to enjoy your pregnancy more.

Baby Massage

Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST) is a very gentle and non-invasive treatment. The treatment consists of a very light gently contact on different areas of the body and allows gentle re-balancing and re-organisation of the body. Baby and/or mother remains fully clothed during this treatment. It is very powerful in releasing stress and strains in the body. Stress and strains may be held in the body as a result of physical and/or emotional trauma and releasing these through CST allows for a more integrated, balanced and healthier body and mind.

Cranio-Sacral therapy for Baby

CST can be effective in addressing birth trauma that may result from a difficult birth. Birth trauma can manifest in many ways. The most common are listed below: - Plagiocephaly (Flat Head Syndrome) - Colic - Reflux - Crying, restless baby - Difficulty sleeping - Problems with digestion - Feeding / latching problems - Neck tightness (Torticollis) - Glue ear

Cranio-Sacral Therapy for Mother

CST can be effective in helping resolve the physical stresses and strains that the body has gone through and can help mothers deal with the stress and anxiety associated with this. Cranio Sacral therapy can help with a number of conditions associated with pregnancy and birth; the most common ones are listed below.

Breastfeeding Counselling with Helen Gray

Helen Gray is a breastfeeding counsellor. Specialising in breast feeding since she experienced her own troubles with her (now teenage) children, Helen is extraordinarily well qualified and knowledgeable in the field.

Helen is available for 1:1 sessions, and given the value from the sessions, the time Helen spends with mothers and the low cost of the sessions we think they are incredibly affordable. Previous clients say:

Join our lovely physiotherapist Madia in this class specifically designed to help your body after having a baby. With a maximum of 9 people in each class you can be assured of individual attention and exercises tailored just for you.

Mum and Baby Pilates

Jane Wake of Baby-A-Wake runs this fantastic Mum and Baby Pilates course. Bring baby along with you while you strengthen your body after birth and get ready to progress onto more strenuous classes. For mums and babies the class uses uniquely designed exercises that will strengthen and tone your tummy. Other lifestyle factors such as feeding, carrying and lifting infants that cause stress to the neck, shoulder as well as lower back areas are considered within this class. Your teacher will work with you individually and as a group using deep stretching and strengthening exercises to bring you back to shape and health.

Post-postnatal Pilates Flow

Adding to our Baby-A-Wake offering, we now have a new post natal class - Pilates Flow on Tuesdays at 8.30pm. Get baby into bed and come along for a mums only class for those who are continuing to grow stronger having already completed the Post Natal Pilates course.
